Cookies and Trackers Policy

Version 2026-10 — effective 18 October 2026.

This policy explains which cookies and other trackers (in particular the browser’s local storage) are used on the vocaway.com platform and its subdomains (“the Platform”), what they are for and how to manage your choices, in accordance with Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act (Informatique et Libertés), the GDPR and the recommendations of the CNIL (French Data Protection Authority).

Article 1 — What is a tracker?

A tracker is information stored on or read from your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website: a cookie, the browser’s local storage or a technical identifier. Some are essential for the website to function; the others may only be used with your consent.

Article 2 — Strictly necessary trackers

These trackers are essential for the Platform to function. They are exempt from consent and cannot be disabled from the banner:

  • __Host-vocaway_rt (httpOnly cookie): keeps you securely signed in. Duration: the browsing session, or up to 90 days if you stay signed in.
  • __Host-vocaway_did (httpOnly cookie): recognises your trusted devices in order to detect unusual sign-ins and protect your account. Duration: 13 months (395 days), renewed at each sign-in.
  • vocaway_oauth (cookie): secures sign-in with Google. Duration: 10 minutes.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: anti-bot verification on the sign-up, sign-in, forgotten password and contact forms, provided by Cloudflare, Inc. It analyses technical signals (IP address, browser characteristics) solely to tell humans from bots, with no advertising purpose. Duration: the time of the verification.
  • Cloudflare security cookies (for example “__cf_bm”): set where applicable by Cloudflare, Inc., our content delivery and security provider, to protect the Platform against malicious traffic. Duration: short, set by Cloudflare (30 minutes for “__cf_bm”).
  • Local storage “vocaway-theme”, “vocaway-language”, “vocaway-sidebar-collapsed”, “vocaway-mic-device-id”: remembers your display, language and microphone preferences. Duration: until you delete them.
  • Local storage “vocaway-cookie-consent”: remembers your cookie choices and the consent proof identifier. Duration: 6 months.

When you make a payment, you are redirected to Stripe’s secure page, which places its own cookies needed for fraud prevention, under its own responsibility (Stripe cookie policy).

Article 3 — Trackers subject to your consent

3.1. Audience measurement

The “Audience measurement” category, if you accept it, makes it possible to produce traffic statistics to improve the Service. At present, no audience measurement tool is active on the Platform. If such a tool is added, it will only be activated after your consent and will be described in this policy.

3.2. Advertising

The Platform uses no advertising cookies, no retargeting trackers and no third-party social networks.

Article 4 — Your choice

  • On your first visit, a banner offers you the options “Accept all”, “Reject all” or “Customize”. Rejecting is as easy as accepting. Closing the banner counts as a rejection.
  • No tracker subject to consent is placed before you make your choice.
  • Your choice is kept for 6 months; you are then asked again, as you also are if this policy changes.
  • You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page.
  • To prove that your choice was collected, we record a random identifier, the policy version, the date and your decision. This information alone does not identify you. This proof is kept for 5 years and 6 months.

Article 5 — Browser settings

You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies. However, blocking strictly necessary trackers may prevent you from signing in to your account or running simulations.

  • Google Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data.
  • Apple Safari: Settings › Privacy.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions.
